Mina Bahuch, a life-long lover of beauty and fashion, began her fashion career in 2000. Her unique and fantastic couture fashions are fierce and provocative, evoking a strong and sexy feminine mystique. Mina holds degrees in Fashion Design and Marketing Arts from Kwantlen University in Canada. She is also an esthetician, trained in Munich, Germany.
Her fashions have been called bold and unusual, “Cruella Devillesque,” with their wild materials and severe cuts. She is deeply innovative and dramatic, allowing her designs to be heroines and vixens, but always sober and mature. Inspired by the powerful beauty of nature and animals, she seeks to incorporate that in her designs. She has been hailed, one of the Best New Designers to Watch, her work said to possess “animal magnetism.”
The beauty of the work is in the detailed craftsmanship of hundreds of hours of beadwork, feathers and hand stitches. She is known for her commitment to designing by hand and diversity in materials. While she was in design school, her unique approach to fabrics was recognized with an award for The Best Use of Gordon Fabrics.
She has enjoyed the opportunity to participate in fundraising events such as the Fashion Design and Technology Scholarship Fund and An Evening of Artful Elegance Fashions Show, at which she helped to raise $2400 for Arts programming at the Port Moody Arts Centre. She has also been able to bring some fun and lightness to the lives of some special children by participating in the donation of t-shirts to the BC Children’s Hospital, and donated her time and talents to Sensations: BC’s Food, Fashion and Entertainment, an Evening for the Children. In the spirit of inspiring and supporting young fashionistas, she mentored and coordinated the Trafalgar out of School Care Gala Fashion Evening.
Mina’s work is a tapestry of a worldly style and essential appreciation for natural beauty. She seeks to reflect the spontaneity, vivacity and passion she sees in the world through her designs. Each piece is an exotic work of art.
